EFT is a holistic therapy that combines concepts from modern psychology with Eastern concepts originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine.
EFT is based on the principle that unprocessed experiences from our past can be stored in the mind and body. Mentally and emotionally, this can present as narratives from our past, especially our childhood, that we carry into our adult life. These narratives, or belief systems, greatly influence our thoughts, emotions and our body's nervous system: For example, how easily we slip into fight, flight, or freeze modes. This profoundly affects our experience of day to day life and the actions we take.
Many of us have experienced multiple traumas, big and/or small, which have led us to form fear-based belief systems. Common examples include 'I'm not good enough', or 'I'm not worthy of ...', or 'it isn't safe for me to be seen/heard'. These fear-based belief systems not only cause us emotional pain, but also limit our ability to feel fulfilled in all aspects of our lives, for example our relationships and work. In addition, experiences of trauma can result in our nervous system becoming over or under activated. For example, constantly feeling anxious and that our heart is racing, or feeling completely lifeless and shutdown.
Through EFT, we can transform our belief systems into more supportive and loving narratives, which support our wellbeing and thriving in life. This process involves learning how to reparent ourselves on the deepest level, and hold a space for the neglected parts of ourself to be heard, seen and loved. EFT is also used to rebalance our nervous system through working with the sensations in our body, and also through acupressure point stimulation, which reduces the stress hormone cortisol. This is a deeply healing process, which can transform both our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical experience. These effects translate directly into the actions that we take in the external world.
EFT can be applied to a wide range of mental, emotional, and physical challenges - as well as practical issues - that are being shaped by our emotional baggage. It is also a powerful tool for spiritual enquiry—especially for anyone exploring how we are creating the reality we experience. Why? Because these issues will link to our belief systems and nervous system, and by re-programming these as mentioned before, EFT can be used to:
Explore and process the emotional impact of experiences including anxiety, depression, (C-)PTSD, DID, and addictions and more. Also related issues e.g. sleeping problems.
Identify the subconscious belief systems that are running your life.
Free yourself from patterns that you don't feel serve you.
Feel more at home in, and connected to, your body.
Build deeper love, compassion, and trust within yourself.
Achieve your goals where your limiting beliefs may be hindering your progress. This could be in any area of your life, be it your career or personal life.
Cultivate more authentic, fulfilling, and connected relationships.
And much more!
